Claims Handling

Griffin has a dedicated claims team which specialises in professional indemnity matters relating to broking business.  The team provides valuable advice and support to any Member having a concern about a potential errors and omissions exposure.

Members are encouraged to contact the claims team at the earliest opportunity where any such concern arises, even where there is uncertainty whether it may amount to a notification or not.  Early intervention by the claims team is key.

Some claims will necessitate the instruction of outside lawyers. In this event the claims handler will continue to work closely with the Member.  The performance of outside lawyers is closely controlled by the Managers to ensure that it is well directed and cost effective.  Particular attention is paid to monitoring costs incurred to ensure these are minimised.

The Managers liaise with the Member throughout all stages of the claims process and the Member’s commercial requirements are always given due consideration.  Close co-operation between the Managers and the Member ensures that any conflicts of interest that might arise during the handling of a potential claim are minimised and that fairness and equity is maintained.
